1969 Fender Custom, formerly known as the Maverick. Fender had all of those leftover XII bodies and necks, so instead of shipping more guitars that weren’t selling, they ‘invented’ a new model by reshaping the body and filling in the holes on the headstock, gluing a veneer to the front and back to hide their work. In the shot of the back of the guitar, you can see where they filled the route for the string plate and repainted the body black. Crazy.
XII pickups, a Mustang vibrato, six strings and some sharp points. I love it.
